Bio

Han Lee, a product designer who helps to solve UI/UX problems of digital products, through front-end development and product consulting for 10+ years.

I studied fine and studio art at Hong-ik University in South Korea and the Cooper Union in New York City. After schools, I translated my learnings of the human-artwork interaction into the human-computer interaction. Since then, my goal is always to communicate with the audience naturally.

I love drawing illustrations and digitalizes them to create animation. I am also a super talented Amazon box artist. 📦

Mission

To survive, you must tell stories.
– Umberto Eco

Telling a story is one of the most effective ways to deliver information. When we tell a story, the information is flowing with context. In storytelling, we don't dump information in audience's face.

When I was in college, my biggest challenge was delivering the message through my artwork because I wouldn’t be around all the time to explain things.

Now, I have to tell a story about my product without standing by my users. And I need to do that visually. I should understand the flow of thoughts of my users, and curate the information to fit with the context at times.

- all to tell a story visually about the product.

Experience

I learned from my experience that as I understand more atoms of the user's ultimate experience, my product gets better usability—the user experience is the product as a whole, not one component by component in separation.

And that idea has pushed me to look into other digital design elements, such as animation, accessibility, coding, and scripting.

I also have experience as a studio artist, a visual designer, a UI designer, a front-end developer, an illustrator, and an interaction designer for the past 10+ years. And that helps me to grow as an all-around product designer.
